MISSION

To inspire learning, exploration, and imagination

EQUITY STATEMENT

To ensure equity in all educational practices and outcomes, Menifee Union School District will intentionally provide opportunities and access, so students, families, and staff are valued, supported, seen, and included across our school communities.

HISTORY

Beginning in early 2020, Menifee Union School District (MUSD) gathered staff, students, parents, and community members to engage in a planning process for a Vision/Mission Refresh for the District.

The stakeholder group of approximately 50 participants met four times during the 2019-20 and the 2020-21 school years to create the District's vision statement, update the mission statement, and begin the creation of a student learner profile. The first two meetings were held in January and February of 2020 and then the process was paused due to the school closures. At the second meeting two former MUSD students shared with the group about their experiences as elementary and middle school students in MUSD.

The students shared heartfelt memories of their time in the Menifee Union School District.  One student relayed how supported she felt in the transition from middle school math to high school math because her teacher made sure to give insight and coaching on strategies. The other student remarked at the support he felt from all of his elementary and middle school teachers.  She shared that his teachers always encouraged him and made him feel like he can accomplish his goals.  He has graduated from high school, works full time, and attends college in the evenings.  He is proud of himself and feels like his teachers in Menifee would be proud of him as well.

The stakeholder group reconvened and engaged in two virtual meetings in February and March 2021. During the meeting Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Root stated, "The vision and mission of a school district provides the “why and what” that will allow Menifee Union School District to provide our students with the skills they need to be successful for their limitless future.”

In the next steps, Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Root and Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services, Dr. Kimberly Huesing will meet with current and former MUSD students to garner the students’ perspective on what skills they believe they will need to be successful in high school, college, career, and life. In June 2021, the new vision, mission, and learner profile will be presented to the Board of Trustees for their approval.
