Structured English Immersion (SEI)
SEI is designed for students at CELDT levels 1, 2 & 3. Appropriately credentialed teachers deliver explicit ELD daily using the ELD supplemental materials: Rigby On Our Way to English (Grades K-5) and the Hampton Brown High Point (Grades 6-8) curriculum. At the middle school level students in these early stages of ELD have two periods of ELD daily in an SEI setting. Using the universal access resources and SDAIE strategies to differentiate instruction to allow students to access the core, elementary teachers use appropriate strategies for a SEI setting on an individual basis or in a small group setting.
English Language Mainstream (ELM)
EL students at language levels 4 and 5 are considered to be "reasonably fluent" and receive ELD instruction at their proficiency level within their English mainstream classroom by their teachers. Other core curriculum is also differentiated for the EL student throughout the day as needed. EL students are monitored through authentic assessments and teacher observations. An ELD report card addendum is used to inform parents of progress. EL students receive appropriate ELD instruction in order to meet the requirements to be reclassified as fluent English proficient (R-FEP).
Alternative Program
This program is designed to provide instruction both in English and the student's primary language to support academic learning. At the current time, Menifee Union School District does not offer an Alternative Program.
