Superintendent
Greetings from the Menifee Union School District!
As we begin the 2009/2010 school year, our District is completing the final steps to transition from a multi-track year-round calendar to a modified traditional calendar. Information regarding our new calendar, which mirror-images the calendar of the Perris Union High School District, can be found on our District website at www.menifeeusd.org.
Due to the closure of our school sites during the summer months, we have opened a Student Enrollment Center, located at our District Office on Menifee Road. All enrollment (and withdrawals for those families moving out of our District) will now be handled at the Student Enrollment Center on a year- round basis. Our Center is designed to be “one stop shopping” for our families and will include all services related to student enrollment. It is our hope that this consolidation of services will make the enrollment process more convenient for our families.
Throughout the summer, our architects and construction team put the finishing touches on our third middle school, Hans Christensen Middle School, which opened it’s doors to students on August 18. Through the combined efforts of Principal Ed Resnick, Assistant Principal, Rick Hodges, and a terrific staff of certificated and classified employees, HCMS is poised for great success in its inaugural school year. Go Knights!
In support of our commitment to academic fitness, I am proud to say that the Menifee Union School District is a Professional Learning Community! “PLC,” as you will hear it referred to throughout the District, is a process that involves teachers engaging in focused conversations using student data to determine how best to plan for and support student learning. Specific time is set aside for teacher collaboration on a regular basis at each of our sites with the goal of improving student achievement. Ongoing training continues to support our teachers in using the “PLC” process. We are excited to be a “PLC” District!
In closing, please know that you have entrusted Menifee’s children to a team of deeply committed professionals. As we continue to tackle the budget issues that face our Nation, our State and, ultimately, Public Education, the commitment to our District motto, “Menifee Pride, Working for You,” could not be stronger.
Respectfully,
Linda Callaway
