Teacher Support
BTSA
For the 2003/2004 school year, we are pleased to provide support services for teachers at the preliminary level of their credential process through the BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment) Program. The BTSA Program links each teacher with a trained support provider in a one-on-one relationship. Guided by CFASST (California Formative Assessment and Support System for Teachers), the BTSA Program includes individualized peer coaching activities geared to support teachers in their understanding and use of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession in conjunction with content area standards. A host of mini in-services designed to compliment CFASST components are offered throughout the year as a means of additional support. (Please refer to RIMS-BTSA District Induction Plan 2003/2004.)
PAR
The Menifee Teachers’ Association and district administration have collaborated on the design of a system of Peer Assistance and Review (PAR). The PAR program provides support for veteran teachers through a variety of individualized activities. Each participating teacher works directly with a consulting teacher in a one-on-one relationship.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT
District-wide staff development days are planed each year based on teacher input in alignment with the components of our Strategic Plan. We utilize a trainer-of-trainers model, tapping upon the expertise of our own teachers to provide training in a variety of areas. For the 2003/2004 year, staff development in-services are planned to include strategies for working with English Language learners and other special populations, strategies to promote healthy enrichments, using technology as a tool to enhance instruction, mathematics and language arts.
