The Business Services Department, supervised by the Assistant Superintendent, Business Services, oversees fiscal operations and the following areas of the District: purchasing, student transportation, facilities maintenance, custodial operations (in conjunction with site administrators), facilities planning, safety, food service, and district insurance programs for workers compensation, property and liability.

The overriding theme of Business Services is to provide quality support to the educational programs of the District.

Fiscal Services, headed up by the Director of Fiscal Services includes budgeting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, student attendance accounting, and related functions. Functions include paying the District’s employees and bills and preparing annual budgets in accordance with funding levels and District priorities.

Purchasing, under a Purchasing Agent includes preparation of purchase orders and tracking District assets which range from school buildings to buses to office equipment.

The Director of Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation directs student transportation, custodial operations, and facilities maintenance. Student transportation provides bus service to eligible students who do not go to school by other means of transportation. Transportation is overseen directly by a Transportation Supervisor. Free transportation is provided to students whose family income qualifies them for the service. Custodial operations are intended to keep classrooms and other district facilities clean. Facilities maintenance covers the repair and refurbishing of facilities. The District has an internal maintenance crew and contracts out other repair and maintenance work not performed in-house.

Transportation Fees:
Annual Bus passes may be purchased at the District Office Student Enrollment Center, Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM. Transportation costs are discounted for siblings.

If you have any questions regarding bus passes, please call the District Office at (951) 672-1851.

Facilities Planning, headed up by the Facilities Director, provides the planning and supervision for new construction and major refurbishing being done as a result of the general obligation bond issue successfully passed by the District in November 2002. The District will use the bond funds combined with state funds to build two elementary schools and undertake various improvements at five (5) existing schools. The Facilities Director also oversees safety and is chairman of the District Safety Committee.

Food Service, supervised by the Food Service Supervisor, is responsible for providing meals to students who do not bring meals from home. Free and reduced priced meals are available for students who qualify.

The workers compensation program provides insurance to district employees injured on the job. Property insurance reimburses the District for lost or damaged property. Liability insurance is intended to reduce the District’s exposure to claims and suits brought against it. In all cases, the District has the objective of protecting its workers and itself against the increasing costs of these forms of insurance. For every dollar spent on these programs, there is one less dollar available for education.

While functions and duties within Business Services are diverse, all are intended to provide support to the overall mission of the District: Education.
