Budget Update
A presentation was given at the February 9, 2010 Governing Board Meeting regarding the impact of the Governor’s January Budget Proposal on the budget of the Menifee Union School District, which results in an 8.6 million dollar shortfall over three years.
Aligned with the ongoing District goals of protecting major programs and protecting jobs, staff presented recommendations to address the shortfall.
The Governing Board approved a package of recommended savings from management staff which included six furlough days in 2010/11, seven furlough days in 2011/12, elimination of four District Office management positions, and the reorganization and downsizing of District Office departments, resulting in an 11.1% decrease in management staff. The total cost savings from management, including staff reductions and furlough days, is 1.1 million dollars.
The District has proposed the same number of furlough days for certificated and classified staff.
In keeping with the District goals stated above, additional recommended savings of 3.9 million dollars were also presented and approved. Click the link below to see full details of the budget presentation.
