Menifee Union School District Community,
Each year since 1863 when President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of Thanksgiving,
we take extra care during this time to express our thankfulness and gratitude to those around us.
This year is no exception. As I have just completed my first month serving the community of
Menifee as your Superintendent, I have already found so many people and things to be thankful for
in both the school district and the community of Menifee.
First and foremost, we have our children. The children of Menifee have truly been resilient during
this unprecedented time. They are working hard to do their very best with our Distance Learning+.
We have our MUSD teachers. Each of them have worked tirelessly to reimagine how they teach to
create engaging and relevant instructional opportunities while paying special attention to the
social-emotional needs of their students.
We have our support staff. Truly shining stars…our support staff have ensured that students have
been fed, computers and Kajeets have been provided to families, our schools remain well
maintained, repaired, clean and safe, counseling services are provided to children, additional
support is provided to lessons, and so much more.
We have our administrators who have continued to provide support to our teachers and support
staff through dialogues and professional development that has supported this instructional
paradigm we have undergone.
And, we have our parents who, alongside their children, have learned to navigate a virtual learning
environment yet still managed to be involved in our PTA/PTO, SSC, PAC, SEPAC, DAAPAC, and ELAC
committees supporting their children’s schools and the children of Menifee.
In these most challenging and difficult times, we have so many going above and beyond for the good
of our children and our community. This reminds me of a quote by Margaret Mead…”Never doubt
that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it’s the only thing
that has.” We are thankful to you for your part in changing the world for the children of Menifee
Union School District.
On behalf of our Board of Trustees and our District Administration, I wish the best to you and your
family for a safe and Happy Thanksgiving,
Jennifer Root, Ed.D.
