- When will I get a raise?
- Step increases occur every July
- Why does my pay not match the pay in the salary schedule?
- The salary schedule is based off an 8 hour schedule. If you work less than 8 hours for that schedule, the salary is pro-rated.
- Does MUSD pay into state disability?
- No. To ensure coverage during an unforeseen disability, MUSD offers third party coverage for instances of disability that employees can pay into.
- Why did I not get a paycheck in July?
- If you work 11 or 10 months of the year, you will get paid 11 or 10 months beginning in August or September, respectively. However, you can elect to pay into a summer saver program that helps you save money for the months of July and August.
- I was called in to perform Jury Duty. What do I do?
- Please tell the court official you are a state employee; and once your jury duty check arrives, provide payroll or site secretary with copy.
- Please also provide a copy of the Jury Attendance Certification. If you have lost the certification, you can go to www.riverside.courts.ca.gov and download your certificate via the following steps:

- What if I lost the check issued to me?
- Please e-mail the courts and ask for a copy of the issued check, at which point the courts will e-mail you a copy.
- Can I change my withholding allowances?
- Yes. You can change your withholding allowances at any time. Please see the forms section to download needed documentation.
Retirement
- Certificated
- Once I retire, can I come back and work part time?
- If a member retires on or after January 1, 2013, the retiree must wait 180 days before returning to school employment as a retiree.
- Generally, a CalSTRS retiree cannot accept a classified position; however, under certain circumstance the retiree can work as a teacher's aide or provide one-on-one instruction in a remedial class.

- Once I retire, can I come back and do certificated work?
- If a member retires on or after January 1, 2013, the retiree must wait 180 days before returning to school employment as a retiree.
- Generally, a CalPERS retiree can accept any position in a school district, but in certain cases the retirement allowance will be terminated if service exceeds 960 hours in a fiscal year.
- Do you have a 401K program?
- MUSD offers participation in a 403(b) and/or 457(b) retirement program. Please see the retirement section for further guidance.
CalSTRS/CalPERS Membership
- What is Classic vs New membership?
- If you were hired before December 31, 2012 you are a Classic member. If hired January 1, 2013 and thereafter, you are considered a New member.
- What is the difference between Classic vs New membership?
- The difference between the two is the retirement formula used in calculating your retirement benefits.
- Can I opt out of a CalSTRS or CalPERS membership?
- No
- Can I decrease or increase my contributions?
- No, contribution amounts are a set percentage.
