DAAPAC (Book Into Bed @ DEC)
Hello Administrators,
I hope you all had a great first week of school! Please allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Rosalind Hamilton, and I am honored to serve as the President of DAAPAC, the District African American Parent Advisory Council.
DAAPAC was created to address the achievement gap in math and ELA for our African American students. Our mission is to increase parent engagement, decrease the achievement gap, and ensure that opportunities and information are available for all students and families. Everyone is welcome to our events.
Over the years, we’ve hosted impactful events such as Black History STEAM Night, Financial Literacy workshops, and Reading Literacy events, one of which brought in over 250 attendees. That turnout speaks to the value and impact of the work we do together as a district.
Here’s how you can help us keep that momentum:
Attend one meeting or event this year, families love to see district leaders present and engaged.
Post our monthly flyers on Parent Square and your school’s social media platforms. (I will provide all flyers and blurb to make this simple.)
Our first meeting will be held online, and I’ve included the Google link for easy access. With your continued support and partnership, we can spark interest, create opportunities, and build a sense of fun and community for our families.
Thank you for your time and dedication. Wishing you the very best this school year!
