Dear MUSD Community,
A middle school student was arrested by the Menifee Police Department this morning after a thorough investigation. The Menifee Police Department has published details of this arrest at this link: MPD Press Release 6.3.22
The District is grateful that the Menifee Police Department was able to take action to allow HCMS to remain a safe place for all. As shared in previous communications, our commitment to student safety compels us to take all appropriate action, within the parameters of our authority as a school district, to hold any students involved accountable. This includes conducting our own separate investigation, as permitted by law, and enacting student discipline.
It is disheartening when a student makes poor choices like these that lead to significant consequences. This incident will have an impact on every student on the HCMS campus in some way. HCMS has a counseling and administrative team ready to help students with the emotional processing of the last two days.
The safety and care of our students is our top priority and we would like to thank the community for your partnership in keeping our students safe and for your support during this difficult time. Thank you, especially to those who reported this threat. Speaking up in this instance allowed for the police to intervene in advance of any harm occurring.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Root, Ed.D.
Superintendent
