July 28, 2020 UPDATE: 2020-21 RE-OPENING SCHOOLS
Dear Menifee Union School District Community,
In recognition of the value of additional professional training and preparation for both Distance Learning + and In-Person Transitional instructional models for the 2020-21 school year, the MUSD Governing Board has added two days of preparation prior to the first day of school. With this change, more time and resources will be devoted to professional learning to ensure we are well prepared to provide a robust distance learning program that supports all students.
THE FIRST DAY FOR STUDENTS WILL NOW BE FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 2020.
As you are aware, both models will open the school year in distance learning in response to the decision to close schools in counties that are on the state’s COVID-19 monitoring list. Students enrolled in Distance Learning + will be assigned to classes at their home schools, and will now have one opportunity to choose whether to complete the year in Distance Learning + or opt into the In-Person Transitional Model when schools are allowed to re-open. Students enrolled in the In-Person Transitional model will gradually return to traditional instruction, with safety precautions in place, based on guidance from county and state health officials.
In the days to come, you will receive information from your child’s school with a schedule of dates and times for you to pick up books and materials, checkout or return Chromebooks, as well as instructions for the first day of distance learning. Nutrition Services will provide Grab & Go meals at all school sites. Meal Applications must be done each school year and can be submitted online. Information can be found at www.menifeeschoolmeals.com .
We encourage you to check your email and visit our website at www.menifeeusd.org for updates as we move forward in the 2020-21 school year. The “School Re-opening Info 2020/21” button located on the homepage will take you to the most current information, frequently asked questions, distance learning help, Nutrition Services information and more.
