For Staff:

We continue to work closely with and obtain guidance from local, state, federal and international public health agencies to monitor the latest updates regarding the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) and ensure the wellbeing of students and staff.  As of today, there continues to be zero reported cases in Riverside County.

Health officials are currently taking steps to prevent the introduction and spread of COVID-19 into US communities.  MUSD has been working to prepare to take steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among students and staff should local health officials identify such a need.

We can take steps now to help stop or slow the spread of respiratory infections diseases, including COVID-19.  As a reminder, everyday preventative actions can help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Encourage students to stay home when they are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

Remember, schools are not expected to screen students or staff to identify cases of COVID-19.  The majority of respiratory illnesses are not COVID-19.  Nonetheless, if you see a student who appears to be sick, please ensure that student is sent to the health office.  As a staff member, we encourage you to remain at home when you are sick.

We have planned to increase custodial support to allow for additional cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched objects and surfaces.  We have been working closely with the local public health department and have developed procedures for communication.  If a community or school has cases of COVID-19, then local health officials will help identify the individuals and provide guidance on next steps.  If you suspect you have been exposed to the virus, then we encourage you to visit your physician and stay home when you are sick.
