Dear Menifee Union School District Community,
On July 17th, 2020, Governor Newsom announced that all schools in counties on the State’s “COVID Watch List,” including Riverside County, would not be permitted to have students return to campus until further notice. As a result of this mandate, all students will begin the school year in Distance Learning.
DISTANCE LEARNING + MODEL
A rigorous, standards-based online instructional program that includes virtual interaction with teachers, small and whole group instruction, live and recorded lessons for TK-8th grade students with designated individual support, and will utilize District issued Chromebooks and materials.
All students shall receive instruction five days a week in a 100% virtual format. Attendance is mandatory and monitored, assignments will be graded, and content is aligned with grade-level standards. Support for English learners, students with disabilities, foster students, and homeless youth will be provided.
Families who choose this option must commit to participate for the full 2020-21 school year. To enroll in the Distance Learning + platform, register by going to the Enrollment Button on the district website at www.menifeeusd.org.
IN-PERSON TRANSITIONAL MODEL
The “In-Person Model” will evolve over time into a traditional, 5-day a week instructional program based on guidance from state/local agencies. The return to traditional instruction is likely to occur in stages:
DISTANCE LEARNING + will start on the first day of school. As conditions improve, program transitions to:
HYBRID AA/BB, an instructional model that blends on-line learning with two days a week of on-campus instruction, in smaller classrooms to promote social distancing. When conditions are deemed to be safe:
TRADITIONAL INSTRUCTION will return 5-days a week, with health/safety precautions in place.
Students not enrolled in Distance Learning + will be enrolled in the In-Person Transitional Model by default – no additional registration is required.
In the coming weeks, we will continue to provide the details of virtual learning and the opening of the school year, currently scheduled for Wednesday, August 12. We encourage you to check your email and visit our website at www.menifeeusd.org for updates. Thank you for your continued patience, support, and understanding as we move forward in the 2020-21 school year, #MenifeeLearns.
