Transfer Types

An Intra-District Transfer request is asking to attend another school within Menifee Union School District other than your school of residence.

An Inter-District Transfer is asking to attend a school in a different district, outside of Menifee Union School District. 

Note: ***If you reside outside of Menifee Union School District and wish to attend a school in MUSD, please request an inter-district transfer from your district of residence. Additionally, in both incoming and outgoing transfer requests, both school districts must approve the Inter-District transfer before the student(s) can enroll at the requested school.

Please Note: Harvest Hill STEAM Academy is impacted and may not be available for transfers for the 2025/2026 school year.

Additional resources/information:

  • Verification of Employment Form - To be completed by school district personnel department for school district employees using the reason School District Employee.
  • Child Care Verification Form - To be completed by persons who live outside the District who are applying to have their children attend one of our schools for childcare reasons.
  • Transfer requests are accepted throughout the school year
  • If you have an existing Intra-district transfer and are in good standing (attendance, academics, behavior, etc.) you need not reapply as your child will continue enrollment at the site they currently attend, through either the TK-5 span or the 6-8 span unless the school is deemed to be impacted.
  • If your child is not in good standing, sites will notify you with regard to possible revocation of transfer. 
  • Inter-District Transfers (OUT of the District) – Processed as they are received during the Priority Window. Students must reapply annually.   
  • Inter-District Transfers (INTO the District) – Processed as they are received during the Priority Window.
 

Determination Notification

The Menifee Union School District is currently experiencing steady enrollment growth at all of our school sites. If you are considering a transfer, we encourage you to do so during the Priority Window as this will increase the probability of the transfer being approved.  Please know that our intent is to accommodate as many transfer requests as possible, and that your patience and understanding throughout this process is greatly appreciated. Approvals and denials are made by the Student Success Services Department.  Parents will be notified in writing via email of approval/denial.

Terms and Conditions

The approval process will begin once staffing and enrollment of resident students has been solidified.  In accordance with District policy, Intra-District and Inter-District Transfer Requests are subject to space availability within the program, grade level, and school site requested. Approval may be revoked at any time for any of the following reasons:

  • Student is excessively tardy or absent from school
  • Student is brought to school excessively early or left excessively late
  • Student fails to uphold appropriate behavior standards
  • Student fails to make appropriate academic efforts (Education Code 35160.5)
  • Insufficient space in the school and/or grade level
  • False or misleading information was provided

 

Inter/Intra District Transfer Appeals Process

Inter-District Transfer
If you wish to appeal this decision, please submit a written explanation within 30 days stating the reason you are appealing. Your appeal will be reviewed by the Assistant Superintendent of Education Services. You will be notified in writing of the outcome within 10 calendar days following the review of your appeal.

Intra-District Transfer
Intra-District Transfers are based on availability of space/program at each school site therefore there is not an appeal process for intra-district transfers.
