Choosing a school is an important decision for your family. Below you’ll find a simple guide to transfer types, how to submit a request, and what to expect during the process.
Want your child to attend another school within Menifee Union School District instead of your assigned school?
This is the option for you.
Want your child to attend a school outside Menifee Union School District, or do you live outside MUSD and want to enroll here?
This is the process you’ll use.
Important Reminder:
If you live outside MUSD and want to attend a school inside MUSD, you must first request an Inter-District Transfer from your district of residence.
For incoming and outgoing requests, both districts must approve before enrollment can occur.

These forms support certain transfer reasons:
Verification of Employment Form (LINK)
For families using “School District Employee.” Must be completed by the employee’s district personnel office.
Child Care Verification Form (LINK)
For families who live outside MUSD and are applying for childcare-based transfer requests.
Transfer requests are accepted all year long.
If your child already has an approved Intra-District Transfer and is in good standing (attendance, academics, behavior), you do not need to reapply. Your child stays through the TK–5 or 6–8 grade span unless the school becomes impacted.
Students not in good standing may be notified by the school regarding possible revocation.
Inter-District Transfers (OUT of MUSD): Processed during the Priority Window and must be renewed annually.
Inter-District Transfers (INTO MUSD): Processed as received during the Priority Window.
MUSD is growing quickly, and some schools have limited space. Submitting during the Priority Window increases the chance of approval.
The Student Success Services Department reviews all transfer requests. Families will receive written notification via email.
Transfer approval depends on spacing and staffing, and may be revoked at any time if:
The student has excessive absences or tardies
The student is dropped off too early or picked up too late
Behavior expectations are not met
Academic effort is not demonstrated (Education Code 35160.5)
There is no longer room at the school or grade level
False or misleading information was provided
To appeal a denial, submit a written explanation within 30 days.
Your appeal will be reviewed by the Assistant Superintendent of Education Services, and you will receive a written response within 10 calendar days.
These requests are based on space availability, so there is no appeal process.
