Engaging Young Minds for Limitless Futures.
Menifee Union School District

Menifee Union School District has three registered nurses (RN), who are credentialed by the state of California as school nurses. Credentialed school nurses oversee each school site's health office and are available during school hours. Health offices are staffed by a health technician or a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) during school hours to help care for your child. If you have any questions regarding your child’s health or safety, a health technician, LVN or credentialed school nurse is available to answer questions and provide assistance.

Credentialed school nurses provide support to each school site in a variety of ways:

  • Writing student care plans (SCP) for students with health needs
  • Training and supervising health technicians and LVN's to work at each of the school sites
  • Performing and monitoring mandated vision, and hearing screenings
  • Managing school-based emergencies
  • Reviewing home/hospital instruction requests
  • Consulting with teachers, parents, physicians, and other community resources on health and safety issues
  • Providing a process for identification and resolution of students health care needs that affect educational achievement
  • Participating in the student study team (SST), 504, and individual education plan (IEP) meetings
  • Supervising medication administration at each school site
  • Assessing student immunization and health records
  • Providing assistance in finding primary health care for students
  • Providing a system for dealing with crisis medical situations
