Certainly one of the most exciting days in your child’s life is the first day of kindergarten. We welcome you and look forward to educating your child at Southshore Elementary.

The kindergarten curriculum at Southshore elementary School integrates reading, writing, science, mathematics, and social studies. The goal is to help a child feel comfortable, confident and excited in their school experience.  Academically, the emphasis is on beginning at each child's present developmental level and continuing from that point to develop skills that will carry the child forward in his/her academic growth.  During half-day kindergarten classes, children participate in a variety of classroom activities as a whole group, in small groups and individually.

Partnerships with parents and community organizations are keys to successful learners. We encourage you to explore your school's PTA. Follow the link PTA under programs on the left side of any page for information or contact your child's school for details. Also, we LOVE volunteers! There are many ways to help out. From in-class assistance, to take home projects, to helping with special events, volunteering is a wonderful way to help and get to know the SSE community.  Teachers will provide volunteer sign-up sheets on "Meet the Teacher Nights".

The kindergarten registration packet is the entry point for your child's enrollment at Southshore. Kindergarten is a fun and exciting school experience!  We are excited to begin this journey with you and your child, and look forward to sharing all the wonderful experiences kindergarten has to offer.
