During the month of October the Menifee Union School District Governing Board took the following actions:
School Snapshot - Callie Kirkpatrick Elementary School Mr. Al Rocha shared a digital presentation of Callie Kirkpatrick Elementary School and how they are educating and inspiring ‘Pioneers of the Future.’ He shared the Callie focus, prevention, intervention & extension; engagement; social/emotional learning; character day: The Science of Character; SOAR; connections and activities.
Technology Update; Mr. Steve Thornton, Director of Technology; Mrs. Mary Braund, Technology Support Supervisor and Mrs. Jenny Thomas, Technology Coordinator shared a digital presentation and update on the technology department. They shared who they are and their roles; what they do to support student achievement (devices, network, learning tools, data, training, tech support with software and devices, safety and security); current initiatives (RCOE and MUSD Google Camp event for the Inland Empire, professional development (Leading Edge Certification); District technology trainers and EdTech leaders; family engagement workshops; new district and school websites; new web enhancement (PeachJar eFlyers); curriculum integration (illuminate, Clever, McGraw Hill Education, Wonders, studysync); helpdesk tickets; new teacher devices; elimination of first day packets in paper form; increased parent portal utilization; Raptor visitor management system; Voice over IP system (VOIP); next year and beyond (Districtwide Emergency Preparedness System, security cameras, M&O inventory and work order management system, enhanced user security adapted to cloud tech, eDocument retention system; network upgrades to support PoE tech; and expand VOIP network).

Mrs. Badillo, Executive Director; Mr. Nick Stearns, Principal; Ms. April Zickefoose, Curriculum & Assessment and senior student, Mr. Ezra Aguilar shared a digital presentation on Santa Rosa Academy reviewing their vision; enrollment; faculty and staff; academics; STEM and Project Lead the Way programs; character in action (community service); college and career readiness; dual enrollment; graduation rates and scholarships; athletics; facilities update; awards and recognition; annual family and student surveys; annual events; upcoming events; standards in mathematics and ELA/literacy as well as local comparisons with surrounding districts; LCAP goals and actions for math performance improvement; and local indicators of the California School Dashboard.
It is the recommendation of the Superintendent and staff that the Governing Board approve the Independent Contractor Agreement with Building Block Entertainment in the not to exceed amount of $1,095.00. Building Block Entertainment, Inc. will conduct an Anti-Bullying Assembly at Chester W. Morrison Elementary School supporting PBIS and our focus on National Bullying Prevention Month. To be paid out of site funds.
